Sustainability

DSF: Working towards a sustainable refractories industry

Decarbonisation

DSF are working with other Ceramics companies, Glass Futures and BEIS to investigate the firing of ceramics using Hydrogen, initial work has proved Mullite and other DSF Refractory products could be successfully fired using 100% Hydrogen.

Recycling, heat recovery and the circular economy

DSF have major initiatives to reduce waste at all stages of our production process. Where possible rejected materials are reprocessed and reused. All DSF’S kilns use heat exchangers or other forms of heat recovery to preheat the combustion air or dry product before firing, reducing fuel usage and carbon emissions.

Ethical raw materials

DSF source raw materials from various suppliers around the world. Where possible DSF work with suppliers who are aligned with the United Nations' Global Compact Principles and will only work with companies who operate ethically and have a commitment to adhere to high environmental and human rights standards.
