DSF Refractories & Minerals Ltd

At DSF we pride ourselves as one of the largest employers in the heart of the Peak District. We employ about 150 people, many of which live in the local villages and towns. Over the 125 years we have seen many family generations spending their working lives at DSF through to retirement. This is reflected in our history of long service awards of 25, 40 and 50 years celebrations.

Electrician

We are currently seeking an Electrician at our Friden, Derbyshire factory

Job Description:

The successful candidate will be a key member of the engineering group, working as part of a small electrical team providing site wide electrical support,completing duties such as:

  • Electrical fault finding
  • Installation work
  • Project work, process improvement initiatives
  • Contractor Management

Requirements:

  • Recognised Electrical Engineering Qualification, preferably with experience in a manufacturing/heavy industrial environment
  • Experience working with motor control circuits, PLC's, variable speed drives, etc
  • Willing to train and develop
  • Motivated


  • Hours of work:
    Hours of work : Days - Monday to Friday – 39 Hours / week.
    Monday - Thursday 06:00 - 15:00. Friday - 06:00 -11:00. Or:
    Monday - Thursday 07:30 - 16:30. Friday - 07:30 -12:30.
    Overtime is available on Friday afternoons and Saturdays.

Development Technologist

We are currently seeking a Development Technologist at our Friden, Derbyshire factory

We are seeking people with the talent and determination to move the company forward through innovative products. Our development programme arises from the desire to provide our customers with sustainable solutions. Development process time, from product conception to market, is crucial to ensure that our solutions are both relevant and progressive.

Working closely with the senior development technologist and as part of the Technical Team, you will be responsible for maintaining the new product development program within the company, working across several projects supporting the sales team in providing technical support directly to customers, providing assistance with QC and problem-solving for production.

As a DSF Development Technologist, you will soon see the results of your efforts and enjoy the satisfaction of seeing your products being manufactured.

Job Description:

  • Develop new products and improve existing products and processes
  • Test and approve new raw materials
  • Review production data to construct product specifications
  • Plan and execute laboratory based trials
  • Organise and coordinate production trials
  • Assess product performance; post-use analysis, site visits, provide material selection recommendations
  • Compiling test certificates, technical reports, manufacturing specifications, product information, sales and marketing literature

The Person:

  • Graduate position; degree in Materials Science or similar would be an advantage
  • Knowledge of refractory or ceramics industry advantageous but not essential
  • Motivated to work independently and as part of a team when required
  • Good project management skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proficient in all Microsoft Office programmes

Sales Manager

We are currently seeking an Sales Manager at our Friden, Derbyshire factory

Job Description:

  • Responsible for their own UK and Export customers, carrying out regular customer visits providing technical and commercial support
  • International travel to maintain and develop sales in Europe and possibly other export regions
  • Liaise with the Sales Office, Technical Team and Production Teams to ensure that customer expectations are achieved
  • Set pricing and carry out customer negotiations
  • Achieve and monitor key sales targets
  • Keep abreast of competitors’ materials and customer processes

Requirements:

  • Sales experience in Glass and other heat containing industries or background in engineering, material science or chemistry
  • Customer focused
  • Desire to carry out international travel both alone and with colleagues
  • Preference to be based at the Derbyshire office
  • Self-driven with excellent presentation and communication skills
  • Must possess a full driving license
  • Have the right to work in the UK
