Calcined Refractory bauxite is widely used as an anti-skid aggregate on roads, pedestrian walkways, bridges and other areas where people or vehicles are likely to slip or skid. When applied with a binder the bauxite provides a surface which is highly resistant to polishing and wear.
In particular bauxite is used on the approach to pedestrian crossings, traffic signals, roundabouts and junctions where severe braking is required.
In addition to the standard bauxites DSF sell a range of coloured materials which offer a highly visible alternative to the natural colour. These can be used for cycle tracks, bus lanes and demarcation. Colours available include Red, Green, Yellow, Blue, Oxide Red and Jade.
