06 Jul 2008 Technical Manager Chris Windle Receives Fellowship from the Society of Glass Technology
On the 5th of June at the Furnace Solutions III Conference; Chris Windle signed the Society's book of Fellows and thus became Fellow number 364. Chris is currently the youngest Fellow.
Succeeding Mr John Sawtell (Sales Manager) as DSF's representative on the Glass Batch and Furnace Committee (now Melting Technical Committee) in the mid 90's, Chris has been a strong advocate of focused technical meetings for glass manufacturers and their suppliers.
Commencing with "Refractories and Furnaces" in 1998, then "The F's in Glass Furnaces" in 2003 and more recently "Furnace Solutions" which is now in it's third year; Chris has been part of the organising team, presenter and chaired meeting sessions.
"I am very honoured to have received the Fellowship; especially as I am not from a glass science background. As chair of the Melting Technical Committee I am extremely pleased with the success of "Furnace Solutions" and confirms a belief that such a meeting is important for not only the UK but also on an international basis.
I would like to thank DSF for always supporting my endeavours for the Society; our interaction with the glass community is essential to ensure our current and future products always meet the industry's needs; I believe this defines DSF's fundamental philosophy of supply"
