Carbon Black

Pure alumina materials DSF 99 and the cast version, DSF 99C, are both used in carbon black reactors to withstand the reducing conditions and potentially high temperatures associated with the process.

A pure magnesia-alumina spinel material, DSF Frimax 7, has also been developed to give the added advantage of higher operational temperature limits and total resistance to alkali, particularly potassium compounds.

To attain the necessary physical properties, all these materials are fired to 1700C. DSF have invested more than half a million pounds in a new kiln to treble the company's capacity for high fired products. The investment improves our service by shortening delivery lead times and shows our commitment to offering high performance refractory materials to the carbon black industry.

DSF is a world renowned supplier to the Glass industry, having extensive references with internationally recognised glassmakers for our products giving long campaigns in the float glass, container glass, fibre glass and other speciality glass industries.

DSF have a long history of supply of high alumina products for the steel and aluminium industries. DSF products are used in electric melting furnaces, steel and iron ladles and tundishes.

We also supply direct reduction kilns, aluminium holding furnaces, coke ovens and carbon bake furnaces.
High fired pure alumina and pure magnesia-alumina spinel materials are both used in carbon black reactors.

These are able to withstand the reducing conditions, thermal shock and very high temperatures associated with the process. They can be supplied in standard brick or complex shapes.

DSF products made to tight dimensional tolerances give excellent performance in rotary cement and lime kilns and preheaters, shaft lime kilns and multihearth calcination furnaces.

We also have products for other rotary kilns producing petroleum coke, activated carbon and calcining minerals.
Products are supplied to a wide variety of heat containment applications including incineration, Sulphur recovery, kiln construction and deck tiles, petrochemical burner blocks, hydrogen atmospheres, multihearth furnaces and many more.

A new company has been formed in China; DSF Refractories (Tianjin) Ltd, A wholly owned subsidiary of the UK company.

Production of refractories has now commenced, for supply to the local Chinese market and for export.
